Neglected Blog, Forgive Me

Dear Blog,

I am sorry I have not written in you so long.  I have been a very busy mama.  After working hard for 3 years we finally finished the rock house.  This was such a huge project and an absolute strain on our lives.  We knew going into it that it would be difficult but we had no idea just how difficult it would end up being.  The labor was intense, the hours long, the mistakes costly but the end result is beautiful! We were able to move in, in May, two and a half years later than we initially thought. *shrug/smile*  The move itself was work.  I myself only moved once as a child, at the age of 10 and only a few times after leaving home and before marriage.  Nothing could have prepared me for this move.  Months before the move I started to pack and weed out unwanted things, unnecessary things,  all that was just for pretty and not sentimental, then sentimental started to go and it began to hurt a lot.  Moving a family our size into a smaller house after being in the same house for 8 years, we had a lot of stuff!!  I did the best I could, it was like the Oregon Trail.  I just kept throwing stuff over board.  Than we had 3 days of just our family moving, packing, cleaning, sorting, organizing and just when I thought I was done they would bring in a new load.  Many people offered to help but my husband just one day said, "Lets move!"  So we did!

I made dinner in the crock pot and after day #1 of moving we were able to enjoy dinner in the new house surrounded by boxes!  We just threw a table cloth on the boxes and ate on them, it was a party!!  I had so much fun, exhausting fun that is, organizing and putting away.  I found even more stuff I could live without, my rule was: If I don't have a place for this than its gone!  At this point I don't even know what I got rid of but I sure don't miss it.  My plan worked and I now have a cleaner, more organized house and it takes half the time to maintain.

I have not missed anything but the water from the last house.  The water here has an orange tint, it has already stained my toilets and the tubs have to be scrubbed HARD every week.  We have already tried a few different filters and nothing is really working.  We are living with it and no one complains because Joe has tried so hard to get this matter resolved.  Oh one other thing I miss about the last house is the road.  I loved walking on that road!

This was the first summer I have had my own garden in my own yard.   We have had a garden at our neighbors house and a garden here while living at the last house but to be able to walk out the back door and into my garden was a real treat this year.  My garden did amazing this year and the work seemed minimal, because I could do a little here and a little there and all so conveniently near a faucet, a toilet, my children, the phone, and all within walking distance:)

This is a picture I snapped of the boys packing some of our shoes, they were trying to match them for the move.  We are the shoe family!

There are still boxes to be put away and actually we still have not cleaned out the storage shed from the last house, yikes!  Joe is now working on the other house, painting and re-doing the shower.  Lord willing, we will be able to sell it and if not people are lined up to rent it.  So that, dearest blogger world, is my excuse.  How have all of you been?   My other excuse is that we went 3 months with out phone or internet!!!  That was really fun, really!  Very little interruptions and
